Yup, I Made Them Too

6 Feb

We’ve all seen them going around Pinterst. (If you’ve got pinterest, let’s be pinter-friends! Or whatever you call your friends on pinterst.) They look delicious and amazing, and are probably one of the greatest combinations of desserts of all time.

Yup, I’m talking about Slutty Brownies. Chocolate chip cookie, oreos, aaannndd brownies? Sign me up. For a whole pan full.

Look at those layers!

If you haven’t seen these floating around the inter webs, you’re living under a rock. You can fix that by making them asap. You won’t be disappointed. Everything is so chewy and ooh and gooey, even the oreo, which gets softened up in the baking process.

I think I’ve discovered the original creator of these sinful pieces of heaven, and that’s The Londoner. Kudos to her. I don’t think my brain could ever come up with something so amazing. It’d probably explode first.

Anyway, the original recipe uses box mixes for brownies and the cookie dough, but I decided to make mine from scratch. I made two pans, one with regular oreos and one with golden oreos. My brother is going to school in Queens, and he’s been studying for the LSAT, so I decided to send him something to help get him through all the studying, and he prefers the golden oreos.

So here is my recipe for (Vegan, and dairy-free!) Slutty Brownies.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×13 inch pan.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup + 2T cups AP flour
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 stick margarine, Earth balance, or futter as I call it
6 T cup brown sugar
6T cup granulated sugar
1/2 t vanilla extract
1 energ-egg (Vegan egg replacer)
6 oz. chocolate chips

Cream the butter (futter) with both sugars until fluffy. Add the (fake) eggs and vanilla, and mix until combined.  Add the dry ingredients, and once again mix until combined. Add the chocolate chips. Spread into the bottom of the pan, make sure it’s smooth.

Then, take a package of oreos and lay them on top of the cookie dough. You want to place them close together. They won’t fit perfectly in the pan, so I broke them in half around the two edges.

Now, for the brownies.

Brownies
9 3/4 T futter (once again, earth balance, or dairy free butter)
4 3/4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1 cup + 2T AP flour
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
3 energ-eggs (replacer eggs)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 t vanilla

Melt the futter/butter and chocolate in the microwave. In a mixing bowl, beat the energy-eggs and the sugar together. Add the chocolate, and vanilla and stir till combined.  Add the dry ingredients. Pour over the oreos and spread evenly.

If you want, you can even add some sprinkles like I did, to add a little fun. Bake for 30-40 minutes.

Amazing!!! And surprisingly, the name fits. ; )

Have you tried slutty brownies yet? Have you discovered anything good on Pinterest lately?

Nope, haven’t seen them until now. Maybe I am living under some rock, because I just became aware of cake pop craze too… Anyway, they look ridiculously good! I’ll have to try give them a try soon.

When I was little, my sister and I used to make something similar — half-baked brownies and cookies fresh from the oven sandwiching a hearty slab of cookies ‘n cream ice cream. Ever since I saw this floating around I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a vegan gluten-free version… and although I have decent V/GF recipes for choc chip cookies, brownies, and even oreos… I think that’s a bit too much work for me. I am however thoroughly enjoying the mouth-watering, vicarious eating. Those pictures… MMMF!

Haha, yeah it is a lot of work with just the cookies and brownies, I can’t imagine making the oreos as well!

Wooow. I don’t know if my waistline can handle those, haha. My husband would love it though, he is an Oreo fiend. I’m on Pinterest, how have I not seen these??? Or maybe I just convinced myself to look away..

For the brownies, you have 4 3/4 unsweetened chocolate. I’m assuming it’s tablespoons?
