Nut Butter Weekend

21 Jan

The title says it all. I don’t know why. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love nut butters, but I normally don’t crave them. If I didn’t have a million open in my cupboard, I probably would have gone through almost a whole jar this weekend alone!

This was a common snack at least three times over the past few days:

Honeycrisp apples FTW!!

I’m way too cool to use only one nut butter, so I change it up a bit, and use THREE.

PBco White chocolate wonderful, Barney Butter, and I know it’s not a nut butter, but it’s similar, Biscoff Spread. I know it’s not gluten-free, but I saw it in the cupboard while I was rummaging around, and I couldn’t help myself. I have no self control.

This was my lunch Sunday, another apple with all three butters, some corn tortillas with hummus and tomatoes, and some dates and cocoa roasted almonds.

And I’m not just loving nuts (haha, hold the jokes) in butter and whole form, I’ve been digging them in powdered forms as well.

These three ingredients make the beeessstttt smoothies/frosties/ice creams. The concept isn’t new, so I won’t pretend you haven’t seen it before.

You just put some bananas (I use two) a few spoonfuls of PB2 (I love the chocolate kind) and a little almond milk which makes a thick yummy ice cream…

Or a lot of milk to make a smoothie… or frosty as I like to say. It’s not a Wendy’s frosty, but it’s pretty darn close for dairy free and relatively healthy!!

Do you like nut butters? What’s your favorite kind/brand?? Do you have a cupboard full of half empty jars like me?

I have been on a kick lately, too! My favorite breakfast lately has been banana slices slathered in almond butter. YUM!

I so need to try PB2! And I don’t blame you for craving nut butter…it’s just too good to resist! I prefer only going through one jar at a time though, otherwise I’d go crazy :P !

Love nut butter! That banana/pb2/almond milk ice cream looks amazing and even healthy – yum! Not totally a nut butter, but I can’t live without Noisella from Le Pain Quotidien.

MMMM nut butter is my lover. but seriously. haha i had 4 jars in my dorm room last week (i’d brought a few with me back over winter break and bought a couple new ones because thsoe were running out) – best/easiest snack ever is to just dip your spoon in! ;) my all-time favorite is definitely barney butter, but since it’s so expensive i usually buy TJ’s creamy salted PB (it’s only $3 and is pretty darn delicious). if i’m treating myself occasionally i’ll buy a $5-6 jar of almond butter, but it’s just not the same as good ol barney butter haha.

I LIVE off of nut butter. My favorite is the self ground PB. You grind it yourself from fresh peanuts. I couldn’t live without it. I have two other store bought nut butters too, and those are half full ha.

Wowee, that’s a lot of nut butter. Love i! I can’t have any right now with my stomach, but I have to say that I could never choose just one. PB is at the top, then almond, pecan, pistachio… Do you like seed butters like sunflower or pumpkin?

nut butter and apple are like the nicest thing together but I’ve never actually put the butter ON the apple. It’s a good idea!!
